Medicare Part D Coverage Gap or “Doughnut Hole”
Starting January 1, 2011 when your insurance has paid $2,700 worth of prescription drugs your coverage stops. You have reached the coverage gap until “Catastrophic Coverage” starts at $4,550. During the time each year that you may be in the “doughnut hole,” you will now have 50% discount on covered brand-named drugs and of the price of generic drugs when you buy them at the pharmacy or order them by mail. The amount you pay will count toward getting you out of the “doughnut hole”.
